Better Late, Then Never

Biography

The best way to describe myself is by simply saying, "Better Late, Then Never!" As a young child I always enjoyed being creative and spending time doing art-related activities. In 5th grade I won a blue ribbon for an owl drawing that I still reminisce about to this day. My art teacher, Ms. Whipple, hung it on her classroom wall for all to see. It made me feel special since it seemed like I was just average in all other subjects. As life went on, so did I with other things that kept me busy. I went to college, married, raised my children and then eventually one day I found myself finally having the time to resurrect my old love for art. So in the last couple of years, I began sketching with lead pencils, then I moved on to professional colored pencils. I loved how I could get very detailed with the sharp tip of a pencil.  I loved how I could create art that was detailed enough to look like a photograph.  I drew many subjects for many friends and family.  I was captivated by their expressions when I revealed my drawings to them. I heard praise that I never heard before. I was in awe and yet inspired even more. Once I had the confidence, I began entering drawing contests. My very first contest with www.coloredpencilmag.com, I won "Honorable Mention." That inspired me like never before, so I entered again in their following contest and won FIRST place! When I draw I feel energized, like I'm bringing a blank piece of paper to life. As it comes to life, I begin falling in love with the art that was created. Every day I thank God for this gift that I'm blessed to share and I hope to continue reaching others for the love of art that I have within my heart.
